We've been really into this group called Improv Everywhere, who basically just go out in public and do the most random things, solely for kicks and giggles and to see people's reactions. Here is one of our favorites by Improv Everywhere, called "Where's Rob?". It's pretty awesome. You can watch a video of it here:
So now.... wow. It's been not forever, not five-ever or six-ever, but SEVEN-EVER since we've written. Meaning seven months.
So, we won't bore you with all the boring things we did over the last 7 months, but we will give you the highlights.
Last Halloween, we went as ninjas. Here is a picture.

Also in the picture are my sister Mary, who went as a belly dancer, and her daughter Chelsea, 7 months old at the time, who went as a bunny (we think... the costume might have been supposed to be a bear, we're not sure). Mary's husband Derek, who went as a skier, was taking the picture so he is not included in it, but he is the one responsible for tying the yellow karate belt around Chelsea. We went trick-or-treating at a few houses, for Chelsea's sake, and then went home when Chelsea got tired and had some hot chocolate and watched a scary movie. Fun times.
For Thanksgiving we went over to Mary and Derek's house (we hang out with them a lot and have weekly Sunday dinners with them). We brought Christian's friend Chris and had the typical turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc. We played games and had pie and all that other Thanksgiving-y stuff you're supposed to do. It was fun.
In December Christian got a new calling in our ward. He got released from being a Primary worker (teaching the 5 year olds) and got called as the assistant executive secretary. He says it is a lot more work than the Primary job, but he actually gets to associate with adults now and he likes that. I am still the Primary pianist and I think that's what I'll continue to be for the foreseeable future -- there aren't that many good pianists in our ward.
For Christmas we took our annual trip down to Houston to visit our families. We spent the first half of the break with the Clines (my parents), and the second half with the Mealeys (Christian's parents). We bought ourselves a nice new camera that takes HD pictures and video. That was our big Christmas present for both of us. We had a lot of fun spending time with family and friends.
In February we celebrated Christian's 24th birthday! We had his favorite meal -- which, as a requirement, consists of funeral potatoes and broccoli and cheese. With a main course of meat, of course, too, but that wasn't as big of a requirement for him. We got him a graphics card for our computer so that he can play his video/computer games in better quality, and he's been enjoying that. He also got The Music Man on DVD, which he says is awesome. He'd been wanting that for a long time.
In March we celebrated my 23rd birthday. We had fried zucchini casserole (which is delicious and one of my favorite meals), and we got a Marie Callender's chocolate satin pie (my favorite dessert in the world)! We stuck a candle in the pie and sang Happy Birthday and everything as if it were a cake. For my birthday I got the last two seasons that I was still missing from Gilmore Girls (seasons 1 and 7). Now I have the complete collection and I will have a Gilmore Girls marathon sometime soon. Probably when Christian goes to Europe in about 2 weeks, which we will discuss more below.
Christian was planning his horn recital for mid-March. We had lots of family come into town and we loved spending time with them. But at the last minute he discovered that his accompanist wasn't up to snuff. Christian's horn teacher told him that there was no way that he was doing his
recital with that accompanist. He tried to find a last-minute substitute accompanist, but nothing worked out. So we ended up rescheduling his official recital for June. Since everyone was in town for his recital, however, we decided to hold a mini unaccompanied recital at our local church building for family. That was fun, and it was actually on "Pi day" (3.14 = 3/14), so we had pie for refreshments.
Today was Easter Sunday. Christian bought me a chocolate bunny, but he said instead of a chocolate bunny for him, he'd rather have several Cadbury creme eggs (he loves those). So we bought him Cadbury eggs instead of a chocolate bunny for Easter. This morning, he hid my bunny, and I hid his Cadbury eggs. I made a scavenger hunt type thing and he had to figure out clues to find where his eggs were hidden. That was a fun little activity to do before church. Then after church we had Mary and Derek (and Chelsea) over, and we had a dinner of ham, potatoes,
and broccoli and cheese. This was our first time preparing a ham, and I must say we did a darn good job. It wasn't actually that hard, but we were proud of ourselves. We also made an appetizer of deviled eggs. Not your normal, run-of-the-mill deviled eggs, but Easter-themed deviled eggs! See for yourself:
Aren't they adorable? The eyes are pieces of black olive, and the beaks are pieces of cheese. We found the idea on Pinterest via a friend's repost of it on Facebook. We just had to make them and post a picture!
We are looking forward to the end of the semester for both of us. Christian is stressing about finals and juries as he prepares to tour Europe with the BYU Wind Symphony. They leave on April 24th and will return mid-May. He will be gone three whole weeks! That is the longest we have ever been apart from each other since we got married! I will miss him a lot, but I know he will have a ton of fun and I'm happy for him. They will visit France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. He says he will bring back some delicious European chocolate! He's really excited about going.
Anyway, we hope you are all well!
Love,
Brittany and Christian
